According to Greek mythology, Pandora was entrusted with a beautiful jar and cautioned not to open it. However overcome by curiosity, one day she removed the lid off to peek inside. Immediately, all the evils and miseries of the world such as diseases, envy, greed, famine, hatred, resentment, sadness etc flew out to afflict mankind. By the time Pandora closed the lid, the only thing that remained in the jar was hope.
